Nottingham Forest face significant selection challenges ahead of Sunday's Premier League fixture against Arsenal at the City Ground. Manager Oliver Glasner is sweating on the fitness of key midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who has missed most of training this week after picking up a muscular injury in last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.
Defender Piero Hincapie is also set to be out for a few weeks with an ankle problem, adding to a lengthy injury list that includes Igor Jesus (calf) and long-term absentee Nicolo Savona (knee). Nikola Milenkovic, who missed the Palace game with a foot issue, has returned to training and could be available.
Recent struggles at home
Forest, who sit 15th in the Premier League with just five points from six games, have found wins hard to come by at the City Ground. They have managed only one victory in their last 14 top-flight home matches, a run that includes recent losses to Leeds United and Coventry City. Their last outing was a disappointing 3-1 loss at Selhurst Park, where Dango Ouattara's early goal was cancelled out by three Palace strikes.
"The main topic was finishing in training," Glasner said this week. "I said the one who can explain it best how to deal with this situation is Chris Wood." The manager is hoping the experienced striker's advice can help his side be more clinical against a formidable opponent.
Arsenal's formidable form
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal arrive in Nottingham in imperious form, having won eight of their last nine matches across all competitions. They sit second in the table, just two points behind leaders Manchester City, and kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 Champions League win over Lille in midweek. The Gunners have also been strong defensively on the road, keeping four clean sheets in their last eight Premier League away games.
Arteta acknowledged the challenge of playing at the City Ground, where Arsenal have failed to score in their last two visits, both ending in goalless draws. "We’re going to try really hard to score goals and to prevent goals as well," the Arsenal boss said. "It’s going to be a really tough match, they’re an extremely well-coached team."
Forest's recent standings position highlights the scale of the task, with the team 13 points adrift of the summit.
