Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner confirmed Morgan Gibbs-White is fit to return for Friday's Premier League match against Ipswich. The attacking midfielder has trained fully all week and is ready for selection at Portman Road as the side, sitting 19th in the Premier League with five points from one win, two draws and four defeats, seeks to close a 16-point gap to leaders Manchester City.

Glasner said Gibbs-White's return is important because he can create chances and score goals himself. The manager added that without him last weekend, the team was still very competitive in the 1-0 loss to Arsenal, but his presence offers a different dimension. Only defenders Igor Jesus and Nicolo Savona remain sidelined with injuries, while Nikola Milenkovic is ready to start after being an unused substitute in the last game.

Context on Forest's struggling season

Their recent form shows one win and three defeats from the last four matches, including a 1-0 loss to Arsenal and a 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace. The sequence of recent results is a concern, having lost the last three games following a 2-1 win at Aston Villa on 12 September, with a 0-1 home defeat to Coventry on 19 September preceding the losses to Palace and Arsenal. The team has scored only five goals all season while conceding nine.

Glasner stated the team deserves more points but the reality is they do not have them so far. He believes the tactical approach has been quite OK in most games. The Austrian manager, who was told he is the manager with the most trophies won in the last 16 or 17 months, said he will not change his principles in life or how he sees football despite the unsatisfactory results.

He came to the City Ground because no one was pleased with last year's season and wants to change how the group deals with each other, not only how they play. Glasner described their current situation as being in the middle of a thunderstorm but needing to go through it to get to the sun afterwards.

Gibbs-White, with 37 goals and 37 assists from 175 Forest appearances, will be a welcome boost. The next fixture is a key one as Forest look to climb out of the relegation zone. The match kicks off at 20:00 BST on Friday at Portman Road.
