Edu Gaspar has swiftly moved to a new role at Levski Sofia's board of directors one week after his departure from Nottingham Forest. The former Arsenal sporting director spent 14 months as Forest's head of global football before his exit.

Edu said he was "very excited to be part of this project" with the Bulgarian club. His time at the City Ground was described as not what he had envisaged, and he had been absent from matchday activities since February. The 48-year-old joined Forest in 2024 after leaving his post at Arsenal, where he had been promoted to sporting director two years earlier following his initial 2019 appointment as technical director.

His move comes as Nottingham Forest prepare for a home match against Coventry City this weekend. The club currently sits 11th in the Premier League table with five points from their opening four fixtures. Their recent form shows one win, two draws and two defeats from the last five outings, a sequence that includes last Friday's 2-1 victory at Aston Villa. That win at Villa Park was secured with a goal scored in the 74th minute.

Looking ahead, Steve Cooper's side will aim to build on that result when they host bottom-placed Coventry at the City Ground. The squad, currently missing Nicolò Savona through injury, will be looking to improve a record of four goals scored and four conceded this season. Reflecting on his career moves, Edu once stated: "Throughout my life I have been used to making good decisions." His next challenge begins in Sofia as Forest focus on their Premier League campaign, with the Coventry fixture set for Saturday.
