Nottingham Forest forward Arnaud Kalimuendo is the subject of late transfer window interest from Serie A side Como. The Italian club have explored the conditions needed to sign the 24-year-old attacker.
Kalimuendo arrived at the City Ground from Rennes in August 2025 for a fee of £25 million, signing a five-year deal. He found opportunities limited in the Premier League and was sent on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt during the winter window. His impressive stint in Germany has now sparked fresh interest as the summer deadline approaches. Forest, currently 15th in the Premier League with one point from two games, may consider offers that fit their valuation.
Como, newly promoted to Serie A, have investigated what it would take to bring Arnaud Kalimuendo to Italy. Journalist Gianluigi Longari reported the news, stating, "Como also have ‘explored the conditions’ needed for Kalimuendo." The club's ambitious project and participation in the Champions League could appeal to the player. It remains unclear whether the Italian side were pleased with the potential costs involved in a deal. Time is running out for any club to complete a transfer, with the window closing imminently.
Kalimuendo still has four years remaining on his contract with Nottingham Forest. The club will only sanction a departure if the terms are right for them. This interest comes as Forest prepare for their next Premier League fixture, a home match against Tottenham on September 5th.
Arnaud Kalimuendo's loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt last season was successful, but the German club did not trigger their option to buy him. The agreed purchase price was deemed too high for Frankfurt to proceed with a permanent transfer. Despite that, they have continued working to bring the French forward back, potentially on another loan arrangement.
A return to Frankfurt now appears unlikely due to the advanced stage of the transfer window. Kalimuendo could still favour a late deadline day move back to the Bundesliga, but negotiations are complex. Forest's need for squad depth is evident as they manage their Premier League campaign, having scored two goals and conceded three in their opening matches.
Fiorentina previously considered Arnaud Kalimuendo as an alternative option to Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee. That avenue has since closed, with Fiorentina opting to sign Beto from Everton instead. This leaves Como as the most recently reported club actively examining a move for the Forest player.
The speculation occurs while Nottingham Forest are five points behind early leaders Manchester City in the league table. Managerial decisions on the squad will also consider current absentees, including Nicolò Savona and Ibrahim Sangaré, whose status can be tracked on our injuries page. Any deal for Kalimuendo would need to be finalized before the transfer deadline passes, concluding a period of uncertainty for the player's immediate future.
