Nottingham Forest's former striker Rafael Mir has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison after being found guilty of sexual assault. The 28-year-old was arrested in September 2024 alongside his friend Pablo Jara, following accusations from two women regarding incidents that occurred at Mir's home in Betera, Spain. The court revealed that Mir sexually assaulted one of the women in a swimming pool and in a bathroom after meeting them at a nightclub. Mir, who was on loan at Nottingham Forest during his time with Wolves, has denied the allegations, claiming the intercourse was consensual. The court's decision included a seven-year sentence for sexual assault and an additional one year and six months for bodily harm. Mir has been ordered to pay 64,000 euros in compensation to the victim and plans to appeal the ruling. His former club, Sevilla, expressed their condemnation of any form of violence or abuse in response to the verdict. Jara received a two-year sentence for sexual assault against a second victim, along with a six-month sentence for an offence against moral integrity.
