Transfer Chase Heats Up

Nottingham Forest is stepping up its pursuit of striker Liam Delap after his recent move from Ipswich Town to Chelsea for £30M. The 21-year-old made an impressive debut in the Premier League, scoring 12 goals during his first season at Portman Road before joining Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

However, Delap has struggled to establish himself in Chelsea's squad under Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior. Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer have taken precedence over him, with Pedro Neto also competing for a spot. Despite managing just one goal in the Premier League this season, Chelsea are now willing to sell the player.

Financial Considerations

Chelsea will aim to recoup as much of the £30M they invested in Delap from Ipswich Town last year. Some reports suggest that the Blues could push for a fee of up to £40M, which would likely be beyond Everton's budget for a new striker. This potential price tag has opened the door for Nottingham Forest, who are managed by Oliver Glasner.

Glasner is currently revamping his squad with free transfers so far, but the sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City has provided additional financial flexibility. With this in mind, Nottingham Forest sees an opportunity to add Delap to their attack and potentially improve their overall performance on the pitch.
