Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their new manager, replacing Pereira. Glasner's move to Forest has been met with shock and disappointment from Crystal Palace fans, who had grown to admire the Austrian's achievements at Selhurst Park.
What happened?
Glasner led Palace to FA Cup glory, into Europe for the first time in the club's history, won the Community Shield, and finished that first campaign in Europe by winning the Conference League.
Why is there bad feeling between the clubs?
The bad blood between Palace and Forest started after Palace won an unexpected FA Cup in May 2025, but were later demoted from the Europa League to the Conference League due to a breach of Uefa's multi-club ownership rules. Forest wrote to Uefa to "ask for clarity" and eventually took Palace's place in the Europa League.
Glasner's relationship with Palace
Glasner's time at Palace was not without its challenges, including the sale of star player Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for £67m and the near-loss of captain Marc Guehi to Liverpool. Despite these setbacks, Glasner remained committed to the club and was serenaded out of Selhurst Park on the final day of the Premier League season. As of the end of the season, Nottingham Forest stood 16th in Premier League, 44 pts, 11W-11D-16L from 38 games, recent form DLDWW, with 48 goals scored and 51 conceded, 41 points behind leaders Arsenal, following their last result, a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on 2026-05-24.
